Dr. Lee M. Yoder will Speak at Belleville Mennonite School’s Faith Promise Dinner

Belleville Mennonite School will host its annual Faith Promise Dinner on Friday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The evening will feature a home-cooked meal, a program honoring the BMS Class of 1958, special singing from the BMS Senior Choir, and speaker, Dr. Lee M. Yoder.

A 1958 Belleville Mennonite School graduate, Dr. Lee M. Yoder received a bachelor’s degree in history from Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) in Harrisonburg, VA. He went on to complete his master’s in educational administration and doctorate in curriculum theory and development at Temple University. He has served as Vice President and Associate Professor of Education at EMU and Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Education at Bridgewater College in Virginia. Most recently, he and his wife, LaVerne, lived in Cairo, Egypt where Dr. Yoder founded and directed the Narmer American College, a Pre-K through Grade 12 school whose enrollment exceeded 470 students during the 2007-2008 school year. The Yoders returned to the United States in August 2008, and currently live in Harrisonburg, VA. At BMS’s Faith Promise Dinner, Dr. Yoder will share how he went “From Coffee Run to Cairo,” will tell how one’s roots prepare for future opportunities in life.

The Faith Promise Dinner at Belleville Mennonite School combines a delicious meal, entertainment that incorporates this year’s theme, “Not for Ourselves, but for Christ,” and an opportunity to financially support the school’s annual fund. Admission to the dinner is free, and all community members may attend. Call the school office at 717.935.2184 or email office@bellevillemennoniteschool.org by October 8 to make reservations for this event.
