Pastor Appreciation

On Wednesday, March 12, Belleville Mennonite School opened its doors to twenty one pastors from various churches represented in the BMS community. This annual event, dubbed Pastor Appreciation Day, is a day for area pastors to visit the school of many of the students from their congregations. The eighth grade class greeted the pastors personally at the door, handing out packets with the schedule of events, and their nametags. From there they guided them to the chapel to be greeted by R. Ann Kanagy, Belleville Mennonite’s Superintendent and by Charity Kauffman, community relations for the school. The elementary students then gathered in the chapel with all of the pastors, reciting various Scripture verses and sang songs for them. Once this portion was over, the classes eagerly ran back up to their classrooms, ready for the opportunity to show their pastors their classrooms, and what they are working on in their classes right now. While the Kindergarteners showed off mostly the toys in their classroom, touting their favorite one, the fourth and fifth graders asked whose desk was cleaner. The pastors and the students alike enjoyed this time, as the children were able to give their pastors a glimpse of their life at BMS. After ample time to allow the pastors to get around to each elementary classroom, and visit with the ones they know personally, they made the short trek back to the high school and middle school. Once back with the upperclassmen, they gathered for a chapel with the 6th – 12th graders. The Junior-Senior worship team led everyone in several praise songs. Many of the pastors agreed that it was a meaningful time; being able to worship with their students in the school setting. Once the chapel was over, everyone went to the cafeteria for refreshments, and a chance to socialize with their respective church community. Belleville Mennonite enjoys being able to bring together the collective pastors that help lead the students, alongside the teachers, in spiritual growth.
