Belleville Mennonite School has just recently celebrated a tradition that has taken place for the past 26 years. Friday, October 19, 2007, during the school’s homecoming weekend, the annual Faith Promise dinner took place. Faith Promise is a time spent with all those who believe strongly the mission of BMS. Faith Promise is held for three reasons. It is a wonderful way to glorify God and praise Him for everything He blessed the school with. It is also a way to provide information about BMS to those who have never heard or who are unaware of what BMS stands for. Faith Promise is also a way for the school to raise funds for the upcoming year. This year the school was blessed to raise over $73,000, greatly surpassing the set goal of $65,000.
Each year the school provides a delicious home-cooked meal along with entertainment for the evening. This year J. Loren Peachey, an alumnus of the class of '57, was one of the speakers for the event. The school was also privileged to have the guest speaker Dr. Barbara Moses, of Philadelphia Mennonite School. During the evening both speakers shared their testimonies and how they saw God at work. Also, providing entertainment for the evening was the Belleville Mennonite High School Choir led by Dan Marasco. The alumni also joined together for some singing.
Overall the evening was a great success. Many people took advantage of the excellent opportunity to spend time with their former classmates, teachers, and friends, as well as to contribute to the mission of BMS.
