Welcome Back Mr. French!
By: Savannah Attlesperger
After being absent for two months, history teacher, Mr. French, has returned. He had lower back surgery, and returned to school April 16. When he returned, not only did he return physically, but his sense of humor and fun personality returned too. He was back to telling fun stories and making jokes.
Two years ago, Mr. French’s back problems started. “It was a struggle to find humor in anything,” said Mr. French. He had a surgery last year to replace the padding in between two of his vertebrae in his spinal column. It had deteriorated and his vertebrae were pinching the nerves to his leg. He would only walk when absolutely necessary, and this once happy guy was always grimacing in pain. Finally after a lot of pain and patience, his humor came back.
Mr. French gained his humor and fun personality after a long time. “My sense of humor has turned 10-fold, and I’m not living in pain anymore,” Mr. French said. He is now back to laughing and telling his funny, random stories.
The students notice a change and are all happy that Mr. French is back. “He’s back to his crazy, humorous self” said ninth-grader, Michelle Zook. When asked if students are glad that the old Mr. French is back, students said, “YES!”
Mr. French, students, and teachers have noticed that he’s a little giddier these days. Everyone is happy that he’s back to his old self, especially him. After a long time of pain, both Mr. French and the students are laughing and having fun with the old Mr. French.
