Fundraising: How much is too much?

Fundraising. The word sends a message of pain, stress, and agony in all schools. “I hate it!” says Belleville student, Savannah Attlesperger.
Some students do not feel as strongly as this. “I understand the purpose of it,” said Belleville student, Michelle Zook. Other students are all for fundraising.
“We need fundraising because how else are we supposed to throw a decent junior- senior banquet and give a good class gift as well as having enough money for our senior trip,” said Kira Stitt, a Belleville student.
Fundraising at Belleville is done about 2-3 times a year per class. This money is used for the senior trip, baccalaureate, graduation, the junior-senior banquet, and the class gift to the school.
Comparing Mount Union High School to Belleville, Mount Union has about the same amount of fundraising. They also use their money for about the same reasons. “The junior class pays for the prom.” said Mount Union senior, Lindsay Shore. “We have fundraising for that.”
“We fundraise so we can go to New York, Hershey, have school activities, graduation, baccalaureate and other trips,” stated Laura Long from Mount Union.
There is plenty of stress that comes with fundraising. When asked what level of stress is caused by fundraising, Mount Union’s Shore and Long stated, in unison, “Super.”
Zook of Belleville stated, “It adds stress. I think it’s worth it, in the end.”
